Multibed technology consists of combining various alumina and zeolite molecular sieves in one or more vessels to benefit from their synergy and complementarity. The techniques involved counteract several potential problems occurring in simple adsorbers over the adsorbent’s service life.
The technique can be applied to both liquid and gas hydrocarbon treatment, as a stand-alone process or in complement to a washing process as a finishing step. It is also used for dehydration and treatment of unsaturated steam cracker effluents, fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) units and industrial gas plants.
