Arofining Aromatics

Arofining is an aromatics purification via selective hydrogenation, for drastically reduced clay consumption.

To date, five Arofining licenses have been awarded. The first unit was put on stream in 1995, in the US, on a C6 rich cut upstream of an extractive distillation unit. The initial catalyst load for the unit has operated for over 5 years and the AWC of the product is below 1 without treatment in a clay tower. Two other units are designed to operate on whole, unstabilized reformate.
