The CMG 841 adsorbent, based on nickel-on-alumina, is specifically designed for treatment of liquid hydrocarbon feedstocks, such as natural gas condensates, containing mercury or containing arsenic and mercury.
CMG 841 is tailored for the hydrogenolysis of both arsenic and mercury organometallic compounds. CMG 841 specifically and irreversibly captures arsenic, reducing its concentration to less than 1 ppb weight.
The mercury leaves the CMG 841 bed in its metallic state with the liquid hydrocarbon flow. It is then trapped downstream in a bed of mercury captation mass CMG 273. The hydrocarbon effluent from the CMG 273 bed contains extremely low residual mercury.
The combined use of CMG 841 with CMG 273 in Axens’ RAM™ series processes enables the safe and separate removal of both arsenic and mercury in liquid hydrocarbon feedstocks. In both guard beds the metals are retained in the form of stable combinations.
