Application
: Arsenic Removal from sour liquids & gases Type : Proprietary Shape : Spheres
MEP-171 is typically utilized with MEP-191 in the Axens’ Multibedä Arsine System for arsenic removal from both liquid and gas phases. MEP-171 is a catalytic mass which acts as a protective layer for our MEP-191 arsine adsorbent. It provides wider tolerance to certain sulfur species compared to MEP-191 alone and permits high arsenic removal efficiency. MEP-171 prevents poisoning by heavy acidic sulfur compounds such as mercaptans.
Arsenic, which is often present as arsine (AsH3) in light olefinic cuts from the FCC and selective steam cracker feeds, is a very strong poison for selective hydrogenation catalysts used for olefin purification. Therefore, elimination of any arsenic upstream of the catalytic bed to less than a few ppb is absolutely necessary for efficient catalyst performance.
MEP-171 usedwith MEP-191, allows:
· Full efficiency in the presence of mercaptans.
· No potential explosive reactions in the presence of acetylenes.
· High arsenic adsorption capacity.
· High macroporosity for minimal risk of pore condensation.
