LD 143 is a nickel-on-alumina catalyst used for the liquid-phase hydrogenation of benzene to cyclohexane. This catalyst is used in the fixed-bed finishing reactor of the Axensprocess.
LD 143 achieves the total hydrogenation of benzene with no formation of impurities, resulting in the production of high purity cyclohexane.
The fixed bed reactor containing LD 143 is placed downstream of the main hydrogenation reactor that operates in the liquid phase and uses the homogeneous liquid catalysts HC 1023 and HC 1025.
