LT 279 is a promoted palladium-on-alumina catalyst used in acetylene removal from ethylene cuts produced during steam cracking.

It can be used for front end operation where its low tendency to provoke runaway reactions is of prime interest. It can also be used for tail end operation where its superior selectivity allows very high removal of acetylene with no loss of ethylene.

LT 279 is available for selective hydrogenation of methylacetylene and propadiene in the vapor phase.
