LD 2773 is a promoted palladium-on-alumina catalyst currently used for selective hydrogenation of methylacetylene and propadiene in propylene cuts and hydrogenation of butadiene in butene cuts produced by FCC units. Compared to steam-cracker light olefin fractions, FCC C=3 and C=4 cuts contain contaminants such as COS which produce a strong deactivation of conventional palladium catalysts.
The presence in LD 2773 of specific palladium promoters provides a total stability against the presence of pollutants.
