APC - Reforming
Specific Application for Reforming Units

The Reforming advanced control package combines Axens' latest generation multivariable controller MVAC, in association with on line inferential technology. It is designed to maximize the benefits from
Reforming process.

As a process licensor, catalyst manufacturer and advanced control technology supplier, Axens combines all the necessary expertise for successful Reforming APC projects.

The Reforming APC technology is applicable in both gasoline and BTX units, and handle regenerative, semiregenerative and continuous reformers.

A five-step control strategy

* octane control by adjusting W.A.I.T.
* W.A.I.T. control by adjusting reactor inlet temperatures while protecting heater constraints (skin, duty,…)
* H2/HC ratio control, while protecting compressor constraints, …
* throuput maximization, subject to unit constraints
* stabilizer control for bottom RVP and overhead C5+ losses.

Axens' MVAC on-line optimization capability is used to push the unit to one of the possible optimum operation zone :

* maximized octane at given feed rate, or
* maximized feed at given octane, or
* maximized hydrogen production.

Axens' inferential technology is used for on-line estimation of reformate octane and RVP, and C5+ losses in the light ends.
