December 19, 2002 - "Axens to Provide Operator Training Simulator"
Axens will supply an Operator Training Simulator for a new butene-1 plant at the Amir Kabir Petrochemical Company (AKPC) in Iran. This award follows the selection of the Alphabutol™ technology to produce high purity butene-1 by ethylene dimerization for use as a co-monomer for linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) production.
Axens’ Performance Programs Business Unit is providing the simulator, which dynamically reproduces different phases of the plant’s operation, including transients such as start-ups and shutdowns through normal operation and emergency situations. The simulator will be used to familiarize the operators and to reduce reaction time, before commercial operations begin. Providing simulated experience will immediately improve safety and economic operability. The simulator can also be used to analyze and optimize butene-1 plant operations.
The Alphabutol process has been attributed nineteen (19) licenses worldwide and is the industrial benchmark for the production of high purity 1-butene from ethylene.
