May 13, 2003 - "Shell Canada Streams Axens’ Prime-G+ Units"
Shell Canada Products recently streamed two gasoline hydrotreaters using Axens’ Prime G+TM technology at their refineries in Montréal and Sarnia, Canada. The process reduces the sulfur content in the fluidized catalytic cracker (FCC) gasoline, which is the largest sulfur contributor to the gasoline pool. Shell Canada had selected the Prime-G+ process solution as part of their gasoline sulfur reduction strategy in 2000. The units were streamed in December 2002.
With these units, Shell Canada is able to supply ultra-low sulfur gasoline to the domestic market well ahead of January 1, 2005 when the Canadian regulations call for 30 ppm average sulfur in gasoline.
The Prime-G+ process, tailored for the treatment of FCC gasoline, has obtained more than 70 licenses for a total production of nearly two million barrels per day of “green” gasoline.
