March 4, 2004 - "Axens Builds on Gasoline Upgrading Success in India"
The Numaligarh Refinery Ltd (NRL) in Assam, India awarded Axens a gasoline pool upgrading project to comply with the Indian government directives regarding fuel quality conformity to Bharat Stage III specifications. Axens will supply technologies for a new 166,000 tons per year semi-regenerative catalytic reforming unit and a new 55,000 tons per year deisohexanizer recycle isomerization unit to maximize octane. The project is slated for completion in the second quarter of 2005.
Over the past three years Axens has been a clear market leader in gasoline pool upgrading projects including catalytic reforming, paraffin isomerization and FCC gasoline desulfurization technologies.
NRL Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) has an installed capacity of 3 million tons per year and is a subsidiary of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPLC) since 2001. BPCL holds 63% of the Company’s equity. The other equity holders are the Government of Assam, Oil Industry Development Board and Oil India Limited.
