December 13, 2004 - "Sinopec’s ZRCC Commissions Axens’ Paraxylene Technology"
Sinopec’s Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Co. Ltd. in Zhejiang Province, China has successfully completed the test run on its 450,000 tons per year Eluxyl unit for the production of high purity paraxylene. The Axens licensed unit represents the largest single train capacity in China and isolates purified paraxylene from aromatics cuts. The unit has been put into service under favorable market conditions, where paraxylene demand is at a several year high. Paraxylene is an intermediate in the production of PET bottles and fibers.

ZRCC Zhenhai Refining and Chemical Co. Ltd (ZRCC), located in the east of Ningbo city in Zhejiang Province, is 71.32% owned by the Chinese state-controlled oil group Sinopec Corp. ZRCC is the largest refinery in China with an installed crude oil processing capacity of 16 million t/a. It is one of China’s largest producers of high octane unleaded gasoline, premium diesel, jet fuel, urea, road asphalt and BTX products.
