June 27, 2005 - "Axens’ Technologies to be Implemented by Turkish Petroleum Refineries"
The Turkish Petroleum Refineries Corporation (Tüpras) has selected Axens for its gasoline pool upgrading project. Axens will provide its Benfree and Prime-G+ technologies as part of a program to ensure the attainment of European gasoline specifications for benzene and sulfur content. Two 10,100 barrel per day Prime-G+ units will be producing ultra-low sulfur gasoline at the Tüpras Izmit and Izmir refineries, while a 24,000 barrel per day Benfree unit, for benzene reduction in gasoline, will be built at Izmit refinery. The start-up of all three units is scheduled for the fourth quarter 2006.
The Prime-G+ process has been selected to desulfurize nearly three million barrels-per-day of cracked gasoline. It is the benchmark technology for the production of “green” gasoline.
