Silica Management

Silicon is a well-known widespread poison for hydroprocessing catalysts.

Silicon builds-up on the catalyst leads to decrease of access to the active sites and by extent to a cycle reduction. Silicon poisoning is not only an issue for hydrotreating catalysts: contamination of reforming catalysts may also occur as silicon breakthrough from naphtha hydrotreaters. Axens can propose specific strategies and a portfolio of silica traps to control this contamination.
