Axens' Production Plants
In accordance with our Quality, Health, Safety and Environment Policy, Axens continuously strives to improve the quality of its product and services, the safety of its operations and to reduce emissions and waste streams at its production plants.
An extensive environmental program has been carried out since the early 2000s in our main production site at Salindres, France. The objective is to reduce the site’s impact on the environment. The program, requiring substantial investment, has resulted in a drastic reduction of atmospheric emissions - even though catalyst production increased. Thus, from 2003 to 2008, Nitrogen compounds (NOx) emitted during the manufacture of a ton of catalyst, were reduced by 80% (i. e., by a factor of five). During the same period, dust emissions were reduced by over 85% (a factor of seven). In addition, in order to protect natural resources, water consumed per ton produced was reduced by 40% from 2003 to 2008.
Axens’ Environmental policy at Salindres plant does not stop at satisfying merely the mandatory requirements. The ongoing goal is to reduce emissions still further, well in advance of any future requirements, while preserving natural resources.
