Axens New Water Treatment Facility in Salindres 22.03.2016
Salindres’ industrial site, the oldest and biggest of Axens’ production sites, located in the South of France, has recently invested in a new installation named PRESTO for the treatment of its industrial waters.
Officially inaugurated on October 30th, 2015, the PRESTO purification plant enables a high level of industrial water purification and can recycle a large part of the treated water in-house. PRESTO is able to trap 99% of the metals, eliminate solids particles and remove organic materials from the plant’s waste water.
Based on a process designed by specialized water treatment engineering company Proserpol, Axens has overseen the erection of the water treatment plant. PRESTO completes and improves the already existing biological water treatment unit. PRESTO allows Salindres’ industrial site to further reduce its ecological footprint. It aims to treat up to 100,000 cubic meters of water per year that will be recycled in the plant’s processes.
This high performance equipment ensures compliance of the plant with the latest environmental regulatory requirements. PRESTO is a €5M investment – partly subsidized by the Agence de l’Eau Rhône Méditerranée Corse (regional Water Agency)-, part of the Axens environmental Policy. Axens has devoted more than €25M to the environment at the site of Salindres since 2001.
Axens is an ISO 14001 certified company, and a signatory of the international “Responsible Care®” initiative to develop a sustainable chemistry industry.
