Sulfur Removal Adsorbents for Oil, Gas & Petrochemicals

Hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), COS, mercaptans or sulfides are common contaminants that must be removed from various gases and liquids such as natural gas, NGLs, LPGs, cracked gases, olefins or biogas. Such Sulfur species are extremely corrosive and must be removed to meet fuel gas, syngas, pipeline, LNG and LPG specifications.

Sulfur removal is also needed downstream of many catalysts containing precious metals -mainly in isomerization selective hydrogenation units- since these are poisoned by even the smallest amounts of sulfur compounds.

Regenerative Adsorbents

Based on a long-year experience and an extensive R&D work, Axens offers a wide range of adsorbents for sulfur removal based on regenerative products.

These products are mainly used for purification of gas and liquid streams with the possibility of thermal regeneration in order to deal with low to moderate sulfur contents. Axens products are optimized in order to achieve the highest lifetime even with an important number of regenerations.

AxSorb® 541

AxSorb® 541 is a regenerative molecular sieve for adsorption of polar molecules.

This product is efficient in removal of water, CO2, H2S and methanol from gas and liquid streams. AxSorb® 541 can be used to achieve simultaneously the dehydration and purification of natural gas in order to reach ultra-low water dew points and sulfur/CO2 specifications (expected for LNG applications for instance).
