SiTrap ACT 971

Thanks to its unique properties, silicones are used from Upstream to Downstream. In Upstream, their properties make them suitable for use as drilling fluids, flow improvers whereas in refining, silicones are used as antifoaming agents in delayed cokers, solvent deasphalting units, solvent extraction units but also as additives in lubricants.

The benefits of silicones end at the Hydrotreater battery limit. Silicon is a well known widespread poison for Hydroprocessing catalysts. Therefore, it is necessary to remove silicon before entering the hydroprocessing unit battery limit.

Axens has developed a series of SiTrap® active grading (ACT 901, ACT 921, ACT 971, ACT 981 and ACT 991) which are the result of several years of research and development. The surface area and the texture of the supports as well as the formulation have been optimized to maximize the silicon removal and retention whithout compromising the catalyst Hydrotreating activity, located downstream the SiTrap® active grading. In addition, SiTrap® associated services can provide its clients with technical advice and consultancy in chemical engineering, as well as technical project feasibility studies and drafting engineering reports relating to catalysts and adsorbents.  

SiTrap® ACT 971 exhibits the highest Silicon retention. SiTrap®ACT 971 is mainly used in Diesel application and in combination with ACT 981 for Naphtha services.
