AlphaButol® - Dimerization to 1-Butene

The AlphaButol® process is the industry’s benchmark for the production of high purity 1-butene via ethylene dimerization producing at date 32 % of butene-1 world capacity.

Using homogeneous catalysis, this technology produces the highest butene-1 purity on the market with a yield higher than 90 %.

AlphaHexol™ - Trimerization to 1-Hexene

AlphaHexol™ process produces high purity 1-hexene by ethylene trimerization suitable as comonomer for Linear Low-Density PolyEthylene (LLDPE) or High-Density PolyEthylene (HDPE) production.

This oligomerization process similar to AlphaButol® technology operates in the liquid phase using a soluble catalyst system.

DimEne-B® - Dimerization towards high purity synthetic C₄ fraction

DimEne-B® supports the transition of the petrochemical industry towards chemicals. DimEne-B® is part of Axens Homogeneous Catalysis Portfolio, positioned to deliver large Butene-1 production capacity in a single train configuration by ethylene dimerization. This treatment specifically focuses in capacities larger than 150-200kta of Butene-1 per train with high selectivity level.
This treatment allows also to co-produce high purity Butene-2, which can be advantageously valorized in the petrochemicals field (metathesis, INA, MEK, Butadiene…) and produce synthetic rich olefins C₄ fraction.

Axens provides also DimEne-B® associated services such as technical consulting and studies, as well as technical project, engineering work and studies including surveys in the field of C₄ fraction production.
